Soooo, here's a solid photo dump of our somewhat recent trip up to Yosemite, San Francisco, and Santa Cruz area. This was for Mel's spring break, so maybe not so recent - April sometime?
Yosemite views:
We made it to Yosemite in the early morning, and it had dropped to around 25 degrees the night before and snowed all over the valley even. Here's our first stop/hike to Bridalveil falls, covered in snow. This was an awesome first sight to see!
The hike up to Bridalveil was covered and snow was falling off the trees everywhere |
Snow falling |
Then we went to the far end of the valley to do a hike, and you can tell, the snow was melting quickly and hadn't hit as much in this area |
couple of GoPro shots |
Once through the wooded area of the trail, this took you out into an awesome valley area, with a pretty stream and tons of huge rock formations. |
The awesome part about the cold was the lack of people :) |
Staring |
hyped! |
checking pictures, not taking it in |
Not the best pic of the water, but it was incredibly clear and green |
Then onwards to Yosemite falls, a pretty sweet two-tiered, huge waterall |
Mel, discovering things everywhere |
Morning view from the campground. I think we were at lower pines camprgound |
Pretty awesome stream |
Oh yea, it was cold again. I think it dipped down to 27 or 28 at night. Probably the coldest camping we've done, but super super fun :) |
View out the back of the campground |
Hike up the Mist Trail in the morning, which Mike and my dad had done the year before. Pretty awesome views all along this trail! |
Looking for mountain goats, bobcats, mountain lions, bears, eagles, jackalopes, anything |
Even while we camp, she looks great! |
Back to the valley floor |
This was all covered in snow the first morning |
Driving out later that day, we got to see some awesome California flowers blooming all over hills |
Made it to SF, stopped by here on the way up to our hike and camp for the night |
We were heading to Mt. Tamalpais and it was raining at first, so we checked out Stinson Beach and it somehow wasn't raining here. Pretty cool views and skies |
Went back up and hiked a trail from our campsite. I can't remember what it was called though, but it was awesome! |
Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii |
very green here |
So, we meet again, Mr. Banana Slug |
The next day, we headed to Santa Cruz to camp in Big Basin Redwoods Park |
Close up on some wood |
Good one at the campsite. This was a really cool park with awesome hiking. We had a blast here. The trees are incredible |
ooooommmm |
ahhhhhhhhhhhh |
huuuuggghhhhhhh. There was stuff everywhere to play on :) |
See! I guess we didn't take too many photos at the last park, but this was definitely one of the highlights! |
