roughed up, taking form. lots of fine tuning to do. oh , yea, one thing i have read about now is that if the back edge of the fin is slightly squared off, adn not soothed out, it can result in a whistling sound when you surf. people write about it as if it's a problem adn just said to sand down the edge a bit and it will go away, but that sounds awesome! maybe its an annoying whistle though. or maybe it attracts certain sea animals... ha. probably shoudn't joke about that.
planing them down to rough shapes
cuttin em out.
practice fin on scrap wood just to get some confidence
started making my fins this weekend. spoke with guys at hardware stores adn at surf shops to get input on what type of wood can be used. came down to buying a $6 piece of plywood (douglas fir) and as long as you put fiberglass on it and glass it, it should be fine. if not, it was a $6 mistake. oh well. did a practice run with some spare wood in the morning. still workign on them, hopefully they look as i'm imagining...
